Tartlet and Wellington-style zander: Perm chefs became winners of the «Best Chef of St. Petersburg Cuisine» Cup.

The first prize went to Evgeny Popov, chef of "Van Goghi" restaurant and the third prize went to Maria Baranova, chef of "Nolan Wine & Kitchen" restaurant.

In the Northern Capital, the 2nd St. Petersburg Governor's Cup "Best Chef of St. Petersburg Cuisine" ended. Cooks from Perm, Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Penza, Tver, Pskov, Tula, Moscow and Leningrad Region participated in the event.

The gold cup and diploma for the first place in the "Professionals" category went to Evgeny Popov, the chef of the Perm restaurant "Van Goghi". In the "Juniors" category, the bronze cup and diploma for the third place went to Maria Baranova, a student of Perm branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and chef of "Nolan Wine & Kitchen" restaurant.

According to the Perm Culinary Association, Evgeny Popov prepared a tartlet with foie gras paté, sugar caramel and pumpkin cream, a puff pastry pie with beef mousse, apricots, and veal; bird's milk with raspberry sauce and chocolate biscuit for dessert. Maria Baranova surprised the jury with Wellington-style zander, white fish with shrimp, creamy potato pancake as well as raspberry mousse with basil and creamy ganache on dark chocolate with bergamot. The jury highly appreciated the dishes prepared by Perm chefs.

The Cup also included a presentation of the investment potential of the Perm Region. Maxim Belyaev, head of the All-Russian Culinary and Service Olympiad "Legend", talked  about investment and infrastructure projects of the region, peculiarities of the Kama region cuisine, the "Authentic Ural Cuisine" project and the local restaurant market. Besides, participants of the Cup have taken part in the business program. The speakers of this event were famous restaurateurs, brand-chefs of various restaurants and shops as well as hosts of TV culinary shows.

Governor of the Perm Krai Dmitry Makhonin repeatedly pointed out that participating in such events allows to demonstrate skills of Perm chefs o professionals of HoReCa sphere from all over Russia and to discover talents of young professionals.

"Our region has every chance of becoming one of the culinary capitals of Russia. To achieve this, it is very important to develop competencies in this sphere, so that citizens and guests of the region can enjoy healthy and tasty food in the establishments of the Perm Region", the Governor emphasized.
